It’s from my experience from visiting Hong Kong for so many years and being a British Born Chinese that I’ve rarely met another chinese kid that shares any music taste in common with me. I mean, I know hardcore isn’t well advertised anyway - you don’t see huge banners with Every Time I Die on it or hear Adidas shops pumping out Gallows. Whilst it can be blatant that someone listens to Metal by their looks (I’m not categorising, but if you’re in my situation sometimes you have to judge a book by it’s cover), you can barely see another leather-clad, shades wearing tattooed fellow metalhead anywhere in HK. I’ve just always asked myself if someone like myself even exists, an Asian kid with tastes in punk, metal, rock and everything in between. With the introduction of Crossfaith, I’m comfortable with knowing the fact that there are Japanese kids who listen to hardcore, but It’s unlikely that I’d get the chance to meet them. The next time I come to Hong Kong, I’d like to meet up with similar minded people, or at least musically similar. For anyone from Hong Kong, here:
